An Alarm Management Approach to Monitoring
Early on, a traditional approach to security monitoring in industrial control systems focused on intelligence-based threat information. At the time, this made sense—focus on the big scary APTs, monitor only the choke points between network enclaves, and hope for the best. But a whole other side of the security story is missing—that of the operator! Operators in critical infrastructure know their environments better than anyone else in the world. In this presentation, Jori VanAntwerp of SynSaber discusses the key points when considering ICS detections, monitoring, and threat hunting in industrial with the operator in mind.
